Te krzesła w oryginale są symbolem topornego późnego socjalizmu. Zarówno ich kwadratowa forma jak i stan zakonserwowanych lat 70 przywołują wspomnienia smutnych blokowisk z wielkiej płyty i nijak ma się to do duńskiego designu lat 50 :). Ale spokojnie, najgorszy smutek i beznadzieja mogą zmienić się w kolorową radość. Własnie tak jak te krzesła.
Stan przed to klasyka bylejakości: zniszczona tapicerka, wszystko w kolorze szaroburej zgniłej zieleni. Jak z poczekalni u dentysty w latach 80, kiedy wizyta z dużym prawdopodobieństwem kończyła się rwaniem zęba na żywca… (moja trauma z wieku szkolnego).
Ale dwie dzielne odnawiaczki (czyli ja i Justyna z Ceramika Karamuz) wzięły krzesła na warsztat i powstały takie oto kolorowe wyspy:
Dla początkujących lub niewprawionych w bojach mam dobre informacje – renowacja tego krzesła jest bardzo prosta. Nie trzeba nic szyć, nie ma obłych kształtów, pianki nie trzeba dużo, tkaniny też, więc i koszty niewielkie.
Stelaż
Został pomalowany na czarno farbą akrylową. W tych krzesłach niewiele było lakieru, wystarczyła solidna przecierka papierem ściernym, by można było kłaść farbę.
Siedzisko
To zwykły kawałek deski, na który kładziemy dociętą w kwadrat 3 mm piankę, na to tkaninę o krawędziach dłuższych niż siedzisko o ok 3 cm. Tkaninę podwijamy i doczepiamy tackerem, pilnując by wzór leżał prosto.
Pewnym wyzwaniem było oparcie, ponieważ postanowiłyśmy nadać mu nieco inne proporcje, doczepiając tkaninę węziej i odsłaniając boki ze sklejki, tak aby było więcej drewna.
Tkanina był doczepiana na krawędziach górnej i dolnej, a z boku jest tylko podwinięta. Nie dałyśmy też tapicerki z tyłu oparcia, chociaż oryginał ją posiadał.
Krzesła dołączyły do wesołej gromady innych odnowionych siedzisk w pracowni Ceramika Karamuz.
To krzesło Justyna praktycznie samodzielnie odnowiła – stary dobry patyczak z Radomska w białym wosku i tkaninie w pepitkę
Mam i ja piękne krzesełko dębowe do odnowienia, ale jakoś tak nie mam kiedy się za nie zabrać… No i szukam odpowiedniego materiału obiciowego. Czuje się teraz zmotywowana do rozpoczęcia tej metamorfozy 😉

the U.S.
dollar on Wednesday, as investors awaited more stimulus from the world’s second-largest economy and the
Federal Reserve’s September meeting minutes due later in the day
to gauge its policy path. The dollar held steady,
giving some relief to the yuan after a sharp rally to a seven-week high last week.
Spot yuan opened at 7.0650 per dollar and was last trading 12
pips lower than the previous late session close at 7.066.
Prior to the market opening, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) set the
midpoint rate, around which the yuan is allowed to trade in a 2%
band, at 7.0568 per dollar, only 3 pips weaker than a Reuters’ estimate.
China’s blue-chip CSI300 index dropped for the first time since Sept.
13, poised to snapping a 10-day winning streak, after officials on Tuesday failed to offer much new on stimulus plans to revive the economy.
The yuan is down 0.7% against the dollar so
far this month, due to broad dollar strength, but the currency has 0.5% firmed for the year-to-date.
China equities’ recent rally has raised the bar for an upside surprise from expected fiscal stimulus news, said UBS strategists
led by Rohit Arora, adding that the offshore yuan’s near-term risk reward is unattractive.
„Historically, fizzling of China equities’ spurts acted as a bigger drag on CNH vis-à-vis the tailwinds from equities’ surge,” the
strategists said.
Nevertheless, market participants are still awaiting additional stimulus measures that could help
further lift China asset sentiment. Citi FX traders think the
offshore yuan could trade well if local equities remain supported, similar to what happened in Nov.
2022 – Jan. 2023, according to the bank’s
note to clients. The offshore yuan traded at 7.0682 yuan per dollar,
up about 0.09% in Asian trade. The dollar’s six-currency index was 0.039% higher

When he won his Best Actor Oscar for his eponymous role in Oppenheimer in March, Cillian Murphy told millions 'I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight,’.
The Cork born star, 48, noted her was the first ever Irishman to
win the award before cheekily quipping 'unless you count Daniel Day-Lewis, an Irish citizen, who, with
all the love and admiration in the world, I don’t’. He finished off his speech by thanking
the crowd in Gaelic – saying 'Go raibh mile maith agat,’.
But those paying attention to Hollywood won’t be shocked that an Irishman got acting’s top gong. Half the Golden Globe nominees for the best actor category were held by Irish actors last year in the same category
were also Irish.
That’s on top of a record 14 Oscar nominations – including the first ever for
an Irish language film.
Dubbed the 'Craic Pack’ a new breed of actors appear to be
taking over La La Land, all hailing from the Emerald Isle.
For a country with just over five million people, the nation certainly punches above its weight in the arts – with the biggest TV shows, books, and films made
by Irish people this year.
Among them are hottest stars of the moment, Maynooth-born Paul Mescal, Dubliner Saoirse Ronan, Barry Keoghan – whose
star cannot stop rising since his blockbuster role
in Saltburn.
Speaking to the Independent about Irish actors breaking into Hollywood, CIillian said: 'We have such a strong representation here for such a small
country, and it’s kind of unique and something we should be very proud of,
I suppose.’
He added that storytelling and performance is
'part of who we are,’ and 'part of our DNA’.
Thanks to an increase in arts funding, as well as
new tax breaks for filming and many hit TV shows set in Ireland
making an impact across the Atlantic – it’s
really a better time than ever to be Irish in Hollywood.

Ireland: rose-tinted and beautiful,,’ the new type
of Irish, she adds is 'hot and sad.’
Incredibly Mescal, his rising star appears to be accidental.
At school in Maynooth, near Dublin, he was known as a sporty 'jock’ – feted for his skill
at Gaelic football.
Aged 16, he was compelled to audition for the school musical – it was compulsory for all pupils – and it was that performance, which completely changed the course of his life.
In an early interview, he said: 'I was a 16-year-old boy and wanted to be perceived as cool by my friends.
'I know for a fact I probably wouldn’t have auditioned because of the
masculinity that I’d been prescribed by being on a sports team.
But since we all had to audition, I was, like, 'Well, I may
as well put my best foot forward’.’
Teacher Anne Marie Lawlor recalls spotting the first signs of Mescal’s talent: 'I taught him singing in his
fourth year of secondary school.
It was soon afterwards that he auditioned for the school play – a production of Phantom Of The Opera.
His history teacher Sinead O’Carroll, who was also involved
in the play, was blown away.
When Paul Mescal was cast as Connell in Normal People – which was
broadcast in 2020, during the pandemic, everything changed.

She said: 'He was a natural from day one. It was 2012, the production was The
Phantom Of The Opera and he was the Phantom. He needed no instruction, no coaching,

'He was so, well, professional really. I’d never seen this from a pupil before.
'Even when it came to the love scenes, he didn’t laugh or giggle the way
most young lads would. He just took it in his
stride like it was the most natural thing in the world.

'Up until that point he’d been known throughout the school for his sporting prowess.
But after Phantom, he started thinking about acting seriously,
that he could make a career of it.’
As Mescal has since recalled of stepping onto the
stage: 'I’ve never felt an adrenaline rush like it.’
He considered joining the Army as a teen but, discussing it with
a careers guidance counsellor, was asked if he wouldn’t rather go to drama school and pursue his burgeoning passion for acting instead.
'I think had I lived in London or LA or New York, there would have been a clearer kind of
understanding that you can go down this road for your job.
'It took me a second to come to that conclusion living in Maynooth,’ he said.

officer Dearbhla and retired teacher Paul, went on to study drama at the Lir Academy.
Scott saw in Mescal the charisma of his original Gladiator, Russell
Crowe, and a hint of Irish hellraiser Richard Harris, who played Emperor Marcus Aurelius in the

His father was always involved in amateur dramatics and singing, and his sister Nell is a successful singer.
But Paul has not forgotten his roots, as he was back
in Dublin for the premiere of Gladiator where he paid homage to the Emerald Isles.
Speaking to RTÉ, said he was 'always blown away by Irish fans
who come and stand and wait to meet us.’
He added: 'Myself and the other Irish in London talk about
it all the time – the welcome we get.’
In February 2023, Paul was praised for raising awareness of the Irish Gaelic language on the Baftas red carpet.
This overjoyed lovers of Paul said that he had made them 'proud’ to bring diversity to the star-studded event.
Normal People, based on Sally Rooney’s novel about teenage lovers, won him
a TV Bafta for best actor and became the BBC’s most-streamed series of 2020
Paul isn’t the only Irish ambassador wowing on the small screen.

It picked up BAFTAs, a Peabody Award and got four-Emmy

She then went on to star in The Perfect Couple alongside Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning.
And although she now splits her time between London and Williamsburg, Brooklyn, she said there is nowhere quite
like Ireland.
In an interview with the Irish Times, Eve said she spent most of the pandemic at home with her family
in Dublin enjoying, 'a sort of love affair with
Ireland,’ and added: 'It’s been special’.
Eve said she had missed Ireland, adding: 'The people.
The craic. The sesh.’ The sesh is pretty minimal
at the moment, I say. 'It is. But I can get on the sesh
with my brothers, we’re in the same household.
The actress also said: 'I’m really lucky I didn’t grow
up in London. I’m really lucky I didn’t grow up in LA. Being
in Ireland and just how Irish people don’t care about fame, it’s not our currency at all … I think that

Going beyond the silver screen to represent the Emerald Isle is Saoirse Ronan, 30, with four Oscar nominations to her name.
She was recently cast in Steve McQueen’s film, Blitz, which is about a group of Londoners during World War II and was
recently commended for her performance as she 'pulled on viewers’ heartstrings’.
Saoirse – who plays Rita – is even tipped to be in the running for
best supporting actress Oscar, but getting the part was not that simple.
She met with Oscar-award-winning director McQueen but she
only got the role of Rita once she had singing lessons and vocal
coaching.
When speaking to Vogue six years ago, she said that she tries
to visit home as much as possible and says she misses 'the craic’ the
most.
Saoirse – who said she can speak Irish Gaelic 'pretty well’ – has rubbed shoulders with not only the biggest actors and actresses,

Perhaps the biggest Irish breakout star of 2024 is Barry Keoghan has
risen through the ranks to become plastered all over our Instagram feeds after his performance as Oliver in Saltburn last
November.
He’s even set to play Ringo Starr in an upcoming Beatles biopic.

be playing him on-screen in a film about the

While many may see him as a relatively 'new star’, Barry has been pursuing his Hollywood dreams since he was 16 years old.
He grew up in Summerhill, Dublin with a very unsettled start to
life due to his father’s absence and his mother’s
addiction to heroin.
He and his brother Eric went into foster care aged five and moved about 12
times when he was growing up.
When he was 12, Barry’s mother died of an overdose and he
went to live with his grandmother. But he said that this gave him the drive to succeed in one of the toughest industries to crack – Hollywood.
Speaking to Esquire , he said: 'You know what, I’m proud of it.
I’m not going to say what happened was the
right thing, but it’s certainly given me a lot of ammunition.’

An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a
time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse. Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked
potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the
menu, but no one paid them much heed. This was all about
lashings of the black stuff.
Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only the
price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’
Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other
hand, went quiet. Until last year, when she reopened as
a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet. But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the
doors were opened to the great unwashed.
Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man.
The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack
of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.
Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of
pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera
phone. Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.
We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur
that tastes far better than it ought to. Next door, a large table
fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.
We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’,
we would have barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and
sour cream, are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline,
raises them to the sublime. Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d
eat this every day if I could. But I can’t. Obviously.
That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

not guilty Tuesday in US federal court to charges of sex
trafficking and interstate prostitution and was released on $10 million bond.
Briton Matthew Smith, the ex-CEO Mike Jeffries and
their fixer James Jacobson allegedly used a „casting couch” ploy to groom aspiring male models to attend sex parties at which victims were plied with alcohol and drugs.
After his arrest in October in Florida with Jeffries, Smith was held in custody in New York.
Smith appeared in court Tuesday in Central Islip on Long Island, to the east of New York
City.
Smith pleaded not guilty and was released on a $10 million bond put up by Jeffries
and his family, said a statement from the US attorney’s office for the eastern district of
New York.
An AFP photographer saw Smith leave the courthouse with what appeared
to be a large electronic surveillance bracelet attached to his ankle.

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The yuan was little changed on Friday against the dollar, but is headed for its tenth straight weekly loss amid concerns that
new tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump will
heighten strains on the struggling Chinese economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies are expected to drive up
U.S. inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from
falling too much. „We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,” Lynn Song, Greater China chief economist at
ING, said in a note.
However, „we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.” The
yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday,
little moved from the previous close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low of 7.2996 hit
on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing streak
since 2018. The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and „the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building” in the yuan, aided by ongoing attempts by China’s central
bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist at RBC Capital Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s economic recovery, with
manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China’s „economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,”
said John Browning, managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next
week’s Central Economic Work Conference, as „Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.” Top policymakers
will gather at the conference to agree on major economic
goals for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched
indicators globally for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions, likely will
not be officially announced until an annual parliament meeting in March.
During Trump’s first term as president, the yuan weakened about 5% against the dollar after the initial round of U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade tensions
escalated. Growth worries and expectations of further
monetary easing by Beijing pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to record lows
this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the
U.S., and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s Song expects the onshore yuan to move within a band
between 7.00-7.40 per dollar, but could fall further to 7.50 „if tariffs come in earlier or more aggressive than our forecasts.” LEVELS AT 03:

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter
to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme
— abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both
topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost
to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes
— every ballot truly will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers
in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try
to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state
constitution — and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President
Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to „a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”
She added, „Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights,
Ireland, a registered nurse, has worked in several states where
abortion is banned or severely limited.
Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem pregnancies
or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.
„Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” she
told AFP.

As Ireland carries her message to potential voters, she noted, particularly to young people who
may be less likely to vote, that it was Donald Trump who appointed the three
justices who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.

„It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland said.
But in Tucson there is little unanimity among
young voters.
„I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez, a 20-year-old college
student.
„There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions, he conceded, „but that’s very small.”
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants
that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.
„People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.
„My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal to let local law enforcement detain,
arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.
„I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.
– Mixed impact –
The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to
mobilize more people to vote — on ballot questions at
the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for
the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with
the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be „helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics
at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights
and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs. Republican issue,
the Republican Party includes „a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises
conservatives’ concerns about „government interference,” she
added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona
ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also „moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise
to maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is „running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

KYIV, Dec 9 (Reuters) – President Volodymyr Zelenskiy made the
case on Monday for a diplomatic settlement to Russia’s
war in Ukraine and raised the idea of foreign troops being deployed in his country until it could join the NATO military alliance.
The remarks at a joint press conference with German opposition leader Friedrich Merz were the latest to signal Kyiv’s increasing openness to war negotiations, with Donald
Trump preparing to return to the White House on Jan. 20.
The U.S. president-elect, who has said he wants to end the war quickly,
called on Sunday for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the
„madness”, after he met Zelenskiy and French President
Emmanuel Macron for talks in Paris.
„Ukraine wants this war to end more than anyone else. No doubt, a diplomatic resolution would save more lives. We do seek it,” Zelenskiy
told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.
Zelenskiy’s spokesperson Serhiy Nikiforov said later that Kyiv was preparing a December meeting
of key European partners who together with the U.S.
were „capable of ensuring the maximum strengthening of our state”.
The aim was to develop a joint position that would hold strong both in negotiations and on the battlefield,
he added.
Zelenskiy said he had discussed a „freezing” of the lines in the war when he met Macron and Trump.
Russia controls nearly a fifth of Ukrainian territory after launching
the 2022 invasion that unleashed the biggest conflict in Europe since World
War Two.
Zelenskiy said he told the two leaders that he did not believe
Putin actually wanted to end the war and that the Russian president had
to be forced to make peace.
„You can only exert force if Ukraine is strong. A strong Ukraine before any diplomacy means a strong (Ukraine) on the battlefield,” he said, implying Kyiv
needed help to become stronger.
He received a rhetorical boost from Merz, the frontrunner in the election race to
become Germany’s next chancellor, who used his visit to liken Berlin’s current policy
to making Ukraine fight with one arm tied behind its back.
FOREIGN TROOPS
Zelenskiy also returned to an idea raised in February
by Macron, who floated the possibility of European nations sending troops to Ukraine.
There was no consensus on the matter among the European leaders.
„We can think and work on Emmanuel’s position. He suggested that some part of troops of a country be present on the territory of Ukraine, which would guarantee us security while Ukraine is not in NATO,” Zelenskiy said.
„But we must have a clear understanding of when Ukraine will be in the EU and when Ukraine will be in NATO,” he
added.
Kyiv, which has made a concerted push to obtain an invitation to
join NATO, has insisted throughout the war that it needs security guarantees to prevent Russia
launching another invasion once the current hostilities are halted.
„If there is a pause while Ukraine is not in NATO, and even if we had the invitation, and we would not be in NATO, and there will be a pause, then who guarantees us any kind of security?” Zelenskiy asked at the press conference.
Russia has demanded that Ukraine abandon its NATO ambitions and sees Kyiv’s membership of the alliance as an unacceptable security threat.
The Ukrainian leader told reporters he was hoping to call outgoing U.S.
President Joe Biden in the coming days to discuss NATO membership.
„He is the current president and a lot rides on his opinion. And there is no point in discussing with President Trump something that is not up to him today – while he is not yet in the White House,” Zelenskiy said.

It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as he was dating another one
of the stars of Purple Rain during the making of the film, Susan Moonsie.
Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the
2004 Grammy Awards, performing a medley that included his
iconic 1984 single Purple Rain.
Their duet also included her fan favorite number Crazy In Love, which saw him accompany her on the electric
guitar.
Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared his appraisal of Beyonce’s musical abilities
when they worked together.
'I was really curious as to how much she knew musically,
and I was really pleased to find out that she knew a lot about scales – Mixolydian scales and Egyptian styles and different things like that,’ he said.
'And I was just trying to show her some chords on the
piano and help her to respect the fact that if she learns piano à la Aretha Franklin and
Ray Charles and things like that, the sky’s the limit as to what she could do, ’cause she’s so very talented.’
Prince died of an accidental overdose in 2016 at the age of just 57.

Shyamalan recently opened up about that film’s impact on his career in an interview with

from then on, so they don’t even know about The Sixth Sense.
So when I think about that, it’s wild.’
'Each movie, I feel this way — that I don’t know if it’ll ever get made.
